Wii U is the brand new home gaming console of the video gaming company Nintendo. There are a lot of persons, in particular gaming fans, who are definitely very thrilled even if its release is still 12 months away. As you can tell by its name, Wii U is an improved unit of the Wii which, in its own right, has become a phenomenon. What new features does the Wii U have?

The New Nintendo Wii U is the first unit from the company that has the power to support HD graphics. It features a 6.2-inch wide touchscreen that also works as a second screen as it can show the exact same pictures that are on the television set.

Wii U game enthusiasts can have an advantage over their opponents thanks to the display screen which can give them extra info. The Wii U controller is motion-sensor capable and can also be used with other Wii controllers. Its other features include a microphone, a camera and an accelerometer.

Because of these functions, the Wii U is not only a gamepad but also a tablet PC and a handheld gaming system.

According to Nintendo, players can use older Wii controllers and the Wii Balance Board with the Wii U. While you can still play with your old Wii game set, Nintendo pointed out the fact that you will have new gaming experiences with the Wii U.

You can easily switch from your game to the television with a simple touch of the key. If the television will be needed for other purposes, this is certainly a good function to have. It will be interesting to try this function when you are on your Wii Fit.

Nintendo said that the Nintendo Wii U will have an IBM processor that has multiple cores. Having said that, the company will not offer any other information when it comes to the gaming console’s hardware.

Nintendo also showed off some of the new video games that you can enjoy with the Wii U but gaming analysts are yet to be convinced that the games will be much superior than its rivals. It was also disclosed that aside from having a built-in flash memory, Wii U will also support SD external storage.

There have been reports that the system will have an internal flash storage of 8 Gigabytes but Nintendo would not confirm nor reject it. Nintendo is also yet to validate if the gaming console will continue to use DVDs or if it will start using Blu-Rays or have a new disc format.

If you are very thrilled about the Nintendo Wii U, you will not be able to get additional information until a couple of months before its launch. Nintendo didn't say how much they will sell the Wii U but some company insiders said that it will be difficult for it and the Wii to have the same price.
